About

Who are the Odd Fellows?

Our early history is obscure and largely undocumented. What we do know is that due to increased trade during the Middle Ages, guilds came to make up a part of the urban culture, grouping people from a number of trades banded together. Hence, people of an “odd” assortment of trades banded together for mutual assistance and improvement.

Our mission is spelled out in our guiding principles

Visit the Sick
Relieve the Distressed

Bury the Dead
Educate the Orphan

We believe in friendship, love and truth as the keys to happiness. For the last three centuries the Odd Fellows have promoted philanthropy, ethics and charity. The Odd Fellows now enroll some 600,000 members, divided into approximately 10,000 lodges in 30 countries around the globe.

Triune Lodge No. 307, of Middletown, supports several local charities, including Blue Raiders football, the Middletown library, youth groups, and more. Our members come from all walks of life, united by a desire to make the world a better place. The only requirements for membership are to be aged eighteen years or older and believe in a supreme being.

Throughout the years, the Odd Fellows have counted many famous personalities amongst our members, including President Franklin Roosevelt and first lady Eleanor; actor Burl Ives; Chief Justice Earl Warren; entertainer Charlie Chaplin, and renowned tattoo artist Oliver Peck.

Now, we are opening our doors and inviting new members into our centuries old fraternity.
